VdMCrusaders.com Celebrates Inaugural Live Stream

It’s a classic big family issue, what can you do when you’ve planned a visit to your college student for months, but you younger son’s soccer team has advanced to the semi-finals. This situation came up for the Pabst family this weekend and VdMCrusaders.com thought it was a great opportunity to test out some live streaming technology. Using tools normally utilized by gamers, VdMCrusaders.com was able to stream the game for the Pabst family to enjoy while out of town.

Using free tools, we were able to stream to multiple platforms at the same time. The platforms we chose were Twitter/Periscope, Twitch, YouTube, Mixer, and the personal Facebook page of Danny Forbes (we do have a Crusaders fan page on FB, but the multi-streaming tool restricts the stream to a personal page).

We were unsure how high the quality of the stream would be, and while the camera quality was difficult due to the setting sun, the game streamed flawlessly. So what VdM events would you like to see streamed? Leave your reply in the comments below, and be sure to subscribe and follow us using the Social Crusader icons to the right (especially YouTube!)

Another advantage of live streaming is that the streaming sites will keep a copy of the stream on the site to watch later. So be sure to check out our YouTube page for past broadcasts and Subscribe!
